US President Donald Trump called on Adam Schiff, chairman of the House Committee on Intelligence, to leave aside, accusing him of “distorting” the text of a conversation with Ukraine President Vladimir Zelensky.
On Twitter, Trump accused Schiff of slandering him in Congress, distorting the essence of a telephone conversation with President Zelensky.
“He allegedly read the exact decrypted version of the call, but he completely changed the words to denigrate me... Adam Schiff lied to Congress and tried to deceive the Americans... I urge him to resign immediately because of this fraud!” - Trump wrote.
Schiff earlier said during a Congressional hearing that the transcript of the conversation between Trump and Zelensky is "the most obvious evidence" of a violation by the US president of his oath.
On September 26, the U.S. House Intelligence Committee issued a complaint by a U.S. intelligence official regarding a telephone conversation between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
The complaint was declassified after the White House published the transcript of this conversation.
According to the transcript of the conversation, Trump asked Zelensky to resume the investigation of the Burisma company, with which Joe Biden's son Hunter is associated. There are no facts of direct pressure on Zelensky in the document.
